There will also be increased contributions by employers to the janitors’ health care program to cover rising health care costs. More. Mayor Jackson backs Justice for Janitors fight at Contract Kickoff Event Cleveland kicks off organizing drive – from City to Suburbs
In 2005, Local 3 in Cleveland is kicking-off two major organizing drives. In April, they started cleaning up downtown, targeting 4 different non-union buildings which will bring over 50 new janitors into the Local. This summer they will expand their organizing drive into Cleveland’s suburbs in order to build strength for contract renegotiations in 2006. Duke Realty, the focus of campaigns in Cincinnati and Indianapolis, is also one of the primary building owners in the Cleveland suburbs. Since building owners and contractors cross state lines, our collective fight as a regional Local is all the more important to building strength in Local 3. Local 3 in Cleveland would also like to welcome the City of Cleveland janitors and the Medina County sanitation engineers to Local 3!
