2004 COPE Drive a Success!

Local Sets New Goals for 2005

 Learn more about COPE

Toledo makes politics work
Toledo makes politics work!

In 2004, the Local held its first ever COPE sign up drive.  We almost quadrupled the number of members contributing to the Local’s COPE fund.  We need to build on this success because the Local is not allowed by law to use dues money to do political work – it must come from contributions form many members.  This year stewards, members and staff in all three cities will be reaching out to every member this year to ask them to become COPE contributors.

Whether it is the very successful petition drive to hold the Airport Authority accountable in Detroit, the passage of the Displaced Worker legislation in Pittsburgh (see article below) or Local 3 members walking the streets for City Councilman Sala Udin who sponsored the Pittsburgh legislation, Local 3 members have taken the lead on political issues that directly affect our members’ lives.  None of this would be possible without the support of COPE contributors.  Our goal this year is to have 20% of our members signed up for a $3 a month contribution by the end of 2005.  Please become a COPE contributor when you are asked.
